Arholma is an oasis in the outer archipelago, offering something for everyone. Here, you can take a stroll among charming red archipelago houses along quiet roads and discover gems such as the cozy caf\u00e9, the local store, or the beautiful church.<\/p>\n

For nature lovers, the well-marked Stockholm Archipelago Trail provides a scenic hiking route that takes you through untouched nature with sweeping views of the \u00c5land Sea and the surrounding islands. The shallow beaches are perfect for relaxing or taking a refreshing dip during the summer. Arholma is also an excellent place for the adventurous, with opportunities for kayaking and cycling.<\/p>\n

For younger visitors, there is an enchanting fairy-tale path leading up to the Arholma Beacon (the lighthouse), and at Arholma Nord the brave can try the zipline, reached by climbing an old cannon tower. If you’d rather keep both feet on the ground, you can explore the old battery with an exciting guided tour inside the old defence facility.<\/p>\n

Take a day trip to the beautiful island of Lid\u00f6, or perhaps book an overnight stay and experience the tranquility for yourself.<\/p>\n

Travelling to Lid\u00f6 on the Northern Boat Line takes just over an hour and a half. If you choose the day-trip option, you’ll have five hours to spend on the island. This gives keen hikers plenty of time to walk around the entire island on the well-marked Stockholm Archipelago Trail, which takes about three and a half hours to complete without swimming stops. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, you can explore shorter sections of the trail, which winds through both meadows and forests.<\/p>\n

The full loop around the island is 11.9 kilometers long, while the shortest route is approximately three kilometers. Apart from two stretches of forest path, the hike follows easy-to-walk gravel or grass roads. Even the woodland trails are relatively accessible by archipelago standards. A refreshing swim in the sea is the perfect way to round off your walk.<\/p>\n

History enthusiasts will find plenty to discover on the island, including a well-preserved Russian baking oven (Ryssugn) and the Lid\u00f6 Battery, where the views from the old cannon position are spectacular. Over the years, Lid\u00f6 has also been home to a holiday retreat for housewives, Europe’s largest mink farm, and much more, all of which can be explored in the island’s small information hut.<\/p>\n

For those who would rather not spend their day hiking, there’s a swimming area just a couple of hundred meters from the steamship pier. Visitors can also rent canoes or stand-up paddleboards. Why not paddle over to nearby Id\u00f6? Or simply stretch out, listen to the gentle lapping of the waves, enjoy a good meal, and relax.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n \n \n <\/article>\n\n
