No Christmas buffet is complete without herring. Tradition has it that a proper Swedish Christmas buffet should be enjoyed in seven rounds, and it is no coincidence that herring comes takes pride of place in the very first.
Our herring is seasoned and pickled according to our own recipes. Among twelve different varieties, timeless classics sit alongside more inventive creations. Which one will become your new favourite?
After the classic herring selection comes the next highlight, salmon.
Our delicatessen’s fennel-and-dill-cured salmon is served alongside both hot- and cold-smoked salmon and our homemade seafood terrine.
Since the 19th century, Christmas ham has held a cherished place on the Swedish Christmas buffet, symbolising abundance, warmth and togetherness.
At our buffet, freshly baked Christmas ham with a mustard crust is served alongside homemade pâtés, cognac-cured venison, smoked charcuterie and even traditional pig’s trotters.
These are the dishes that fill the aft deck with the aromas, warmth and unmistakable spirit of Christmas: honey-glazed pork ribs, kale with wood-smoked pork, Jansson’s Temptation (a creamy potato and anchovy gratin), and of course, our head chef’s famous meatballs, all served from a warming buffet heated by candles.
When the warm dishes have satisfied the appetite and the herring has sung its song, a new act begins, the cheese course. It is not quite the finale, but it gently signals the transition to waht comes next.
Soft, hard, creamy and local cheeses await. There are many varieties to choose from, but it is the red Christmas cheese that reigns supreme at the buffet.
As dessert is enjoyed and glasses are raised for a warming cognac, the silhouette of Stockholm’s Old Town gradually comes into view as steam towards our home port.
Traditional Christmas treats such as “änglamat” (a creamy Swedish trifle), crispy struvor pastries and creamy rice pudding (“ris à la Malta”) evoke nostalgic memories of Christmases of the past.

Between 27 November and 20 December 2026, we offer Christmas buffet cruises filled with festive cheer from Wednesday to Sunday. S/S Blidösund departs from Skeppsbron, in front of the Royal Palace, at berth 101.

Looking for a more private and exclusive Christmas buffet experience?
Reserve the elegant Ladies’ Lounge on the upper deck exclusively for your party. Accommodating 13 to 15 guests, it offers a earm and intimate atmosphere, perfect for colleagues, friends or family.
The additional charge is SEK 1,000 and you will have the entire lounge exclusively for your group, creating a Christmas dining experience beyond the ordinary.

For smaller groups seeking a bit of extra privacy during the Christmas buffet, the Chief Engineer’s Lounge is available on the main deck (same level as the buffet). It accommodates 4 to 6 guests and can be reserved at no additional cost.
