A well-known island in the southern archipelago
Utö offers a little bit of everythingUtö is one of the best-known islands in the Stockholm archipelago and is located at the outer edge of the southern archipelago. The island has a rich history that stretches back several centuries, particularly through its iron ore mining industry, which dates back to the Middle Ages.
Today, around 250 people live on the island year-round, but Utö is best known as a popular tourist destination, attracting approximately 70,000 visitors each year. Many are drawn by its beautiful rocky shores and scenic landscape of forests, meadows, and sweeping sea views. The island offers excellent opportunities for swimming, hiking, cycling, and kayaking.
Despite its popularity, Utö has managed to preserve much of its authentic archipelago character, making it a highly appreciated destination for relaxation and nature experiences throughout the year.
