Steamship cruises through the Blidösund strait to Norrtälje

Join us on a historic journey through the archipelago aboard one of Sweden’s last coal-fired steamships still in regular service. From Skeppsbron to Blidö and onward to Norrtälje, you’ll glide through postcard-perfect straits, with the rhythmic chug of the steam engine echoing just as it has since 1911. Onboard, you’ll enjoy delicious food, stunning views, and an unforgettable evening in the heart of the archipelago.

At the final destination, Norrtälje, you can stroll through the picturesque town center, enjoy a waterside dinner, or explore charming shops and galleries. Nature lovers will find scenic coastal walking paths. For those only interested in the cruise, an evening bus back to Stockholm is available.

Håkanskär

Håkanskär is one of Roslagen’s most untouched and beautiful islands – a place where time seems to stand still and nature speaks for itself. Here, you’ll find smooth granite cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and a peaceful silence found only far out in the archipelago.

Idö and Fejan

Sunday expiditions to Svartlöga

Departures from Furusund, Norrtälje, and Stockholm

This summer, we offer Sunday excursions to Svartlöga aboard our historic steamship, S/S Blidösund. Svartlöga is one of the best-preserved village environments in the Stockholm archipelago. Unlike many other islands, Svartlöga was spared when the Russians raided in 1719.

Families with children love the island’s child-friendly beach, and nature enthusiasts can enjoy Lassas Hagar, a five-hectare arboretum with a water garden and over 2,500 exotic trees and shrubs. Film lovers will find it especially exciting to know that parts of the new Saltkråkan movie were filmed here. It’s easy to see why – Svartlöga has an untouched, fairy-tale atmosphere that feels straight out of Astrid Lindgren’s world.

On Svartlöga, there are no cars, no shops – just nature, culture, and tranquility. A perfect break from everyday life.

Archipelago Expeditions 2025

This late summer archipelago expedition heads to Svenska Högarna – a remote and fascinating location on the outer edge of the sea. Onboard M/S Sjöbris, our captain and guide Göran P. Sjödin will share engaging and lively stories about the archipelago’s nature, culture, history, and maritime heritage.

The expedition departs on August 25, 26, 27, 28, and 30, leaving from Slussen at Skeppsbron at 9:00 AM (to the left of the Djurgården ferry). We’ll navigate through the archipelago toward Svenska Högarna, where we’ll make a landing and have the opportunity to explore the island. Lunch will be served onboard during the journey. We expect to return to Slussen around 5:30 PM.

All dates are now fully booked, and no additional tickets will be released. There is no waiting list.

Norrtälje, Arholma

Northern Boat Line

Northern Boat Line – Full-day excursion from Norrtälje Harbor to Arholma

Take the chance to experience the northern archipelago with the Northern Boat Line. During July and early August, this popular full-day tour departs from Norrtälje harbor, heading to Arholma – one of the archipelago’s most beautiful islands. Onboard, you can relax on deck and enjoy the views or visit the ship’s cozy café offering coffee, light meals, and a glass of wine or beer.

Once you arrive at Arholma, you’ll have a few hours to explore the island at your own pace. Walk along scenic trails, visit the island’s historic sites, or simply soak in the unique archipelago atmosphere. In the afternoon, the tour returns to Norrtälje harbor, making the Northern Boat Line a perfect day activity for both locals and visitors wanting to experience the northern part of the Stockholm archipelago.

Blidösund day

S/S Blidösund

Welcome aboard S/S Blidösund for an unforgettable summer day at sea! On August 2nd, we celebrate Blidösund Day with an atmospheric cruise through the beautiful Blidösundet – three laps around Yxlan, departing from and returning to the idyllic Furusund.

Enjoy the fresh sea air, the historic ambiance onboard, and stunning archipelago views as we pass charming docks along the way. Onboard, an experience awaits all your senses – in our dining room, you can savor dishes from our à la carte menu, and on the sun deck, you can relax with a refreshing drink in hand.

Archipelago Boat Day

S/S Blidösund, S/S Norrskär, and S/S Storskär

Join us for Archipelago Boat Day, a special excursion where Stockholm’s classic archipelago boats sail together in procession from Strömkajen out towards Vaxholm. This is a unique opportunity to experience the Stockholm archipelago, with festivities and activities waiting for you upon arrival in Vaxholm.

Once in Vaxholm, the town is filled with music, local markets, and performances. For those wishing to enjoy a delicious meal at sea, the ships offer the option to reserve a table onboard.

Tickets are purchased via the Archipelago Traffic Association, and table reservations can be made through our customer service. Please specify your preferred seating time: 6:00 PM or 9:00 PM.
