Blidösund is ideal for those seeking a more traditional and atmospheric experience on the water. The ship can accommodate up to 200 people for mingling and is a fantastic venue for anniversaries, dinners, or other cultural experiences. With its coal-fired steam engine and nostalgic surroundings, S/S Blidösund provides an unforgettable setting for a wide range of events.

M/S Riddarfjärden

M/S Riddarfjärden is a beautiful, classic archipelago ship from 1936. Offering both a spacious saloon and the option for outdoor mingling on the upper deck, it’s the perfect choice for summer parties, weddings, or dinner cruises. With room for up to 120 guests for mingling and an elegant atmosphere of wood and brass, this ship provides an unforgettable setting for your event on the water. M/S Riddarfjärden is also ideal for smaller groups (from 30 people) without feeling too large.

M/S Riddarholmen

M/S Riddarholmen is a ship perfectly suited for larger events. With its roots dating back to 1916, when it operated in zinc traffic on the Göta Canal, it was renovated in the late '90s for charter operations. With its large capacity, it can accommodate up to 170 people for mingling and offers an excellent experience for dinners, weddings, or corporate events. From the spacious upper deck, which holds up to 150 standing guests, there is a fantastic view of Stockholm’s beautiful archipelago, making M/S Riddarholmen a popular choice for all types of events.

M/S Sjöbris

M/S Sjöbris is a fast ship built in the 1980s with a light and fresh interior, perfect for medium to large groups who want to venture deep into the archipelago or need quick transportation to various destinations. The ship offers stunning views of the archipelago from its open upper sun deck, making it ideal for a scenic journey. M/S Sjöbris accommodates up to 250 people for mingling and can serve buffet meals for up to 90 people. This is also the ship where we host our popular archipelago expeditions every spring and late summer.

M/S Sjögull

M/S Sjögull is a sister ship to M/S Sjöbris and nearly identical in design and function. Built in the 1980s with a light and fresh interior, it is perfect for medium to large groups wishing to explore the archipelago or be quickly transported to various destinations. During the high season, M/S Sjögull operates regular traffic but is also available for private hire after the regular route. The ship features an open upper sun deck with stunning views of the archipelago, making it an excellent choice for a journey with beautiful panoramic vistas. M/S Sjögull accommodates up to 250 people for mingling and can offer a buffet for up to 90 people.

M/S Rex

M/S Rex was built in 1937, a year after its sister ship M/S Riddarfjärden, to serve as an icebreaker in the Stockholm Archipelago, among other purposes. With its period-appropriate interior in the salon and the large open upper deck, it is perfect for events such as mingle transports. In 2019, a hybrid installation was carried out, which means M/S Rex can now offer environmentally friendly electric operation for shorter trips. It can accommodate up to 148 people. As there is no kitchen on board, we offer snacks and wraps, along with some fine sparkling wine, beer, or wine.

Classic Ships

S/S Blidösund

S/S Blidösund is one of our most iconic ships and a true classic steamship. With its charming and historic design, it has sailed through the Stockholm archipelago for many years, offering a unique experience onboard. With its timeless elegance and steam-powered engine, S/S Blidösund serves as a reminder of a bygone era and an important part of our maritime tradition.

S/S Norrskär

S/S Norrskär is Waxholmsbolaget’s youngest steamship, built in 1910 by Eriksbergs Mekaniska Verkstads AB in Gothenburg. Delivered as Sandhamns Express, it has a two-cylinder compound steam engine and is also the older sister of S/S Blidösund (1911). Just like S/S Storskär, it was designated as a protected heritage vessel in the year it celebrated its 100th anniversary. With a restaurant and café on board, there are excellent opportunities for both lunch and dinner on the way to your destination. Evening cruises with food and drinks are also popular. During summer weekends, you can take a trip with S/S Norrskär to the iconic Sandhamn in the outer archipelago.

S/S Storskär

What could be more delightful than gliding through the archipelago with the power of a steam engine? Not much, many would say. S/S Storskär is the fastest steamship in the archipelago. It has a triple-expansion engine and is now oil-fired. Built as Strängnäs Express in 1908 in Gothenburg, it has been part of what is now Waxholmsbolaget since 1939. Designated as a heritage vessel during its centennial anniversary, S/S Storskär operates daily on regular routes in the central archipelago from May to September. Onboard, you’ll find both a restaurant and a café, and the departure times offer opportunities for both lunch and dinner cruises for those seeking a round-trip journey.

M/S Västan

Built in 1900, M/S Västan is the oldest among the classic ships. She was originally delivered as the steamship Nya Svartsjölandet from Motala but has been a motor vessel since the 1950s. Västan has been rebuilt several times but still retains much of her charm from different eras. In 2012, she was designated as a heritage ships by the Swedish Maritime Museums and is now part of the historic fleet owned by Waxholmsbolaget. Today, you can take a trip with her to Vaxholm and the popular excursion island Grinda. A tip from the crew is to enjoy an ice cream or a cold beer in the sun on the lovely promenade deck.
